In recent years, the fight against smuggling has become increasingly important in Kazakhstan. This is evident from the cases discovered during inspections at Almaty airport.
On one occasion, jewelry with diamonds was found in a package from the USA, disguised as toys and accompanied by fake documents. The Turksib District Court, at the request of the transport prosecutor's office, transferred the jewelry worth 60 million tenge into state ownership.
Following a lawsuit from the Almaty transport prosecutor's office, the court handed over to the state goods from Turkey, which were misrepresented as geotextiles, with a total value of over 48 million tenge.
The Main Transport Prosecutor's Office emphasized that efforts to detect and curb smuggling are ongoing.
