Uzbekistan has concluded bilateral negotiations with the United States regarding its accession to the World Trade Organization. This was announced by the special representative of the president for WTO affairs, Azizbek Urunov.
“After 14 months of intensive negotiations, I am pleased to announce the completion of bilateral talks with the United States, which has now become the 21st country on our path to joining the WTO,” wrote Azizbek Urunov.
He also expressed gratitude to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative for their constructive cooperation, as well as to Uzbekistan's ambassador in Washington, Furkat Sidikov, and the trade advisor at the diplomatic mission, Okil Ubaidullaev.
“Without the political will, support, and leadership of our president, His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Presidential Administration, and the Interagency Commission, this would hardly have been possible,” added Azizbek Urunov.
It is worth noting that in September, Uzbekistan completed negotiations for WTO accession with 18 countries and signed protocols to conclude market access negotiations with Brazil and Sri Lanka.
