As stated in the document, the order has been awarded for "significant merits in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and allied relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, the development of traditional ties of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples, as well as for a substantial contribution in the fields of culture and art, the preservation and enrichment of spiritual values."
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the Order of Friendship to two renowned artists from Uzbekistan.
The award for "fruitful activities in bringing together and mutually enriching the cultures of Russia and Uzbekistan" was given to Farrukh Zakirov, the artistic director of the vocal ensemble "Yalla," and singer Sevara Nazarkhan.
