The Chairman of the Trade Committee, Aidar Abildebekov, visited the markets of Almaty to assess their readiness for modernization. According to the Roadmap from the Ministry of Trade, the upgrades will take place at the markets "Arlan," "Batyr," "Tulpar," "Arystan," "Zhibek Zholy," "Asia," "Tau Samaly," "Berekе," "Sauda Kent," and "Saryarka." The owners of these markets are required to complete the renovations by December 2025.
Aidar Abildebekov emphasized that the modernization should not only enhance the conditions for conducting business but also create a comfortable environment for customers. In accordance with the law, markets must meet modern standards, including compliance with sanitary and fire safety regulations, providing parking, and supporting online payment options.
The committee chairman urges the city's district akimats to ensure the prompt issuance of permits so that the market modernization is completed within the set timeframe. Market owners who fail to finish the upgrades by 2026 will face administrative penalties.
Currently, there are 38 markets operating in Almaty, of which 34 are general markets and 4 are specialized.
