Paid roads could generate 100 billion tenge for the budget by 2026.

Kazakhstan has a paid road system that spans 3,200 kilometers. During a government meeting, the Minister of Transport shared details on the revenue generated for the budget, as reported by Bizmedia.kz.
В 2026 году платные дороги могут принести бюджету до 100 миллиардов тенге.

“In order to reduce the burden on the budget and ensure self-sufficiency, the status of ‘toll roads’ is being gradually introduced in areas where reconstruction and repair works have been completed. Currently, a paid road system spanning 3,200 kilometers is in operation across the country. In 2024, the revenue is expected to reach 48 billion tenge,” noted Marat Karabaev.

According to him, an additional 4,000 kilometers of toll sections will be introduced this year, generating revenues of 60 billion tenge, and in the following year, they could reach 100 billion tenge.

Regarding the allocation of these funds, the minister pointed out that “there is a proposal to direct a portion of the revenues from toll roads towards covering interest payments on loans taken for construction work.”
