Russian journalist and blogger Alexey Pivovarov released an episode dedicated to Uzbekistan, where he and invited experts discussed key historical and social issues.
The video thoroughly addresses topics such as the Jadid movement, forced labor, the "cotton case," and the reasons behind the labor migration of Uzbeks to Russia. Pivovarov paid particular attention to the protests in Karakalpakstan in 2022 and the figure of Dauletmurat Tajimuratov — one of the main defendants in this case.
The journalist also shared details about the detention of his film crew in Nukus. “We contacted Tajimuratov's brother and arrived in Nukus, where our film crew was detained,” Pivovarov noted.
According to the journalist, he spent several hours in the police station, where he communicated "calmly and amicably" with the law enforcement officers. During the conversation, he was made to understand that filming in Karakalpakstan is only possible with all the necessary accreditations.
