Over the past year, the country conducted 238.4 million such transactions, with a total amount reaching 25.4 trillion tenge. Almost one-third, or about 8.1 trillion tenge, was accounted for by Almaty, representing 32% of the total.
The second place goes to Astana, where 2.6 trillion tenge was withdrawn, making up just over 10% of the overall volume.
Shymkent is closely following, with cash withdrawals amounting to 2.1 trillion tenge, which is approximately 8%.
In total, these three cities surpass the remaining 17 regions in terms of cash withdrawn.
If we consider the number of transactions rather than the total amount, Almaty still holds the first place, but its share has risen to 21%, meaning that roughly one in five transactions in the country occurs there. In Astana, this figure stands at 9%, while in Shymkent, it is 8%.
Regarding the average amount per transaction, the largest check is again in Almaty, at 161 thousand tenge. Astana ranks second with 121 thousand tenge, while Mangistau region takes the third spot with 109 thousand tenge. Shymkent just missed the top three, as the average amount there was 108 thousand tenge.
Overall, the cash withdrawal volumes changed slightly over the year: the growth was 11%, which is not significantly higher than the inflation rate.
In Almaty and Shymkent, the figures increased by more than 20%, while in Astana, the growth was lower, reaching 8%.
