Kazakhstani citizens have started withdrawing large deposits from their accounts.

According to the results for January, individuals held 24 trillion tenge in bank deposits, while companies maintained 17.2 trillion tenge. These figures were provided by the National Bank.

The volume of deposits from individuals decreased by 506.4 billion tenge over the month, while deposits from legal entities fell by 695.3 billion tenge.

In Kazakhstan's five largest banks:

  1. Halyk Bank: individual — 6.9 trillion tenge (down by 102 billion tenge), legal entity — 5.4 trillion tenge (down by 122 billion tenge);
  2. Kaspi Bank: individual — 5.8 trillion tenge (down by 275 billion tenge), legal entity — 376 billion tenge (down by 280 billion tenge);
  3. Bank CentrCredit: individual — 2.8 trillion tenge (up by 5 billion tenge), legal entity — 2.4 trillion tenge (down by 66 billion tenge);
  4. Otbası Bank: individual — 2.4 trillion tenge (down by 27 billion tenge), legal entity — 221 billion tenge (up by 63.8 billion tenge);
  5. ForteBank: individual — 1 trillion tenge (down by 46 billion tenge), legal entity — 1.7 trillion tenge (down by 47 billion tenge).

Vyacheslav Kim (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kaspi.kz) noted that at Jusan Bank, which he plans to acquire, the volume of deposits for both individuals and legal entities does not reach one trillion tenge: 811 and 792 billion tenge respectively (compared to 824 and 868 billion tenge a month ago).

  1. The Eurasian Bank also displayed negative dynamics in January: deposits from individuals fell by 7 billion tenge (to 1.1 trillion tenge), while deposits from legal entities decreased by 58 billion tenge (to 994 billion tenge).
  2. In contrast, deposits at Freedom Bank increased: for individuals — up by 14 billion tenge, reaching 599 billion tenge, and for legal entities — up by 45 billion tenge, reaching 512 billion tenge.
  3. The volume of deposits at Bank RBK decreased from 639 billion tenge a month ago to 575 and 940 billion tenge, while deposits from individuals at Bereke Bank rose from 652 billion tenge to 674 billion tenge, and deposits from legal entities fell from 857 billion tenge to 845 billion tenge.
  4. Only BCK, Bereke Bank, and Freedom Bank saw an increase in the deposits of the public. Deposits from legal entities only grew at Otbası Bank and Freedom Bank.
