В Узбекистане в прошлом году зарегистрировано свыше 130 тысяч преступлений, однако не все из них удалось раскрыть.

This was reported at the Senate Committee meeting on Defense and Security on February 26.

Of all crimes committed, 92.4% have been resolved. A total of 8,700 wanted individuals have been apprehended, and 567 missing persons have been located.

Additionally, 3,300 crimes related to corruption and the economy have been identified. These were committed by 3,800 individuals, from whom nearly 239.6 billion sums in damages have been recovered.

It was also mentioned that 219 individuals have been punished for crimes related to human trafficking.

More than 54,000 women who faced oppression and violence have been granted protection orders. 625 women encountering family issues and violence have been accommodated in rehabilitation and adaptation centers for women.

During the discussion, certain shortcomings in the prevention of offenses were noted. It was highlighted that the majority of crimes that could have been prevented consist of thefts and fraud. It was stated that 59.4% of these crimes were committed by youth, while 36.1% were perpetrated by previously convicted individuals. Over 7,000 of these crimes were committed by unemployed persons, indicating that local employment issues are being addressed ineffectively.

In the field of cybersecurity, 58,800 crimes have been committed, of which 97.7% are related to the illegal withdrawal of funds from citizens' bank cards.

It is worth noting that Uzbekistan ranks 164th in the world in terms of the number of prisoners. This is evidenced by data from a ranking released by the Institute for Criminal Justice Policy Research.
