During the recent plenary session of the Senate, a law titled "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aimed at Improving the Mechanisms for Effective Use of Land Plots and Preventing Violations in This Area" was adopted.
Measures of administrative and criminal liability for actions related to violations of land legislation are being strengthened. Crimes such as illegal seizure of land plots are now investigated solely by the prosecutor's office.
Under the current legislation, the investigation of such crimes was previously handled not only by the prosecutor's office but also by investigators from the internal affairs agencies.
The Economic Code and the Civil Procedure Code are being supplemented with provisions that establish special proceedings for cases regarding the return of illegally seized land plots that are state-owned, as well as for the demolition of unauthorized constructions.
It is also stipulated that local executive authorities are exempt from state duty when filing a lawsuit regarding violations of land legislation in civil and economic courts.
