Uzbekistan officials have been put on an austerity plan, requiring them to cut expenses in 2025 and banning the purchase of cars and expensive furniture.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, by the end of this year, officials in Uzbekistan are prohibited from proposing salary increases, purchasing official vehicles and expensive furniture, as well as organizing events without a specific source of funding.
Чиновникам Узбекистана установили режим экономии: им приказали сократить расходы в 2025 году и запретили приобретение автомобилей и дорогой мебели.

This is stipulated in the president's decree regarding measures for the implementation of the state budget law. In this document, the head of state set a task for budget managers to economize in 2025.

Thus, budget organizations (excluding educational and medical institutions) are required to reduce their expenses on furniture and office supplies by 10% compared to the previous year in 2025.

Additionally, government agencies are prohibited from proposing salary increases for managerial staff, purchasing official vehicles, expensive soft furniture, and office supplies using additional sources from local budgets. Exceptions will be made for special transport, as well as equipment used in education, science, healthcare, agriculture, and water management.

Furthermore, conducting events without a specific funding source is not allowed.

Additional expenses will only be permitted if there are extra revenues or through the reduction of other expenditure items. To acquire official vehicles, costly soft furniture, and office equipment using off-budget funds, government approval will be required.

It should be noted that local budgets have been allowed to retain revenues from turnover tax, property tax, land tax for legal entities, and from the rental of state assets in full. Additionally, they will keep at least half of the revenues from personal income tax.
