On January 30, the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Istanbul confirmed that the number of Uzbekistan nationals who died from poisoning by counterfeit alcohol has risen to 23, including two women.

The bodies of all the deceased have been transported to Uzbekistan with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Migration Agency, which provided consular, legal, and organizational support.

Some of the affected individuals have completed their treatment and have been discharged from the hospital, while others continue to receive medical care. The Uzbek Consulate in Istanbul and the Embassy in Ankara are actively monitoring the situation.

The mass poisoning occurred in an area of Istanbul where expatriates from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan reside. A criminal case has been initiated under the charge of attempted intentional murder. Previously, on January 18, it was reported that there were 17 fatalities.
