Money transfers from Kazakhstan have dropped to their lowest level since the pandemic.

In January 2025, money transfers from Kazakhstan through international systems dropped to their lowest level since the peak of the pandemic, totaling 40.7 billion tenge. This information was reported by Bizmedia.kz, referencing DATA HUB.
Денежные переводы из Казахстана достигли исторического минимума с момента пандемии.

This is 28% less than in December 2024 — a drop of 16 billion tenge. Although the beginning of the year typically sees low figures, the current decline has proven to be the largest in the past six years.

When accounting for inflation, the amount of money transferred in January could be the lowest on record since 2017. In April 2020, it was even lower, but now, considering the current indicators, we are witnessing lows since that time.

The main decrease occurred in transfers to countries such as Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Georgia. The decline is particularly noticeable in these nations, where transfers have decreased by tens of billions of tenge.

Interestingly, transfers to Kazakhstan from abroad are also declining, totaling only 15.8 billion tenge — the lowest figure since January 2022.
