Today, the open court proceedings in the criminal case of the Uchtepa district concluded with the verdict regarding the doctors from a private clinic accused of the death of blogger Farhod Mannopov. The court, presided over by Judge D. Komilov, announced the verdict.
A. K. (an otolaryngologist, born in 1981) and J. K. (an anesthesiologist-resuscitator, born in 1979), who were employed at the private clinic "Star Med Centr" (LLC "Omad Plyus"), were acquitted of the charge of leaving a person in danger (Article 117, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan).
However, the court found them guilty of improper performance of professional duties (Article 116, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan). Both doctors were sentenced to 5 years of restriction of freedom, with a ban on practicing medicine in their specialties for a period of 2 years.
For J. K., taking into account the time spent under house arrest, the restriction of freedom will amount to 3 years, 6 months, and 27 days.
The parties have the right to appeal the decision of the first instance court in the appellate or cassation procedure at the Tashkent City Court.
