According to him, the Qatari holding company, which operates in various sectors including construction, healthcare, and artificial intelligence, plans to invest in the infrastructure of the company and the economy of Kazakhstan.
He emphasized that in the context of rising capital costs for technology, cooperation among operators is becoming more crucial than competition.
As an example, he cited the successful collaboration between Tele2/Altel and "Kcell" in the development of 5G, which has expedited the deployment of the next-generation network.
The Chairman of the Board and CEO of JSC "Kcell," Askar Zhambakin, also commented on the sale of Tele2 and Altel to the Qatari holding and the impact of the deal on the telecommunications market in Kazakhstan.
He noted that the joint venture between "Kcell" and Tele2/Altel, which received frequencies for 5G in 2022, is successfully fulfilling its commitments.
In 2023 and 2024, the companies have deployed around 1500 new base stations across the country, and the partnership will continue as long as it remains economically viable.
