Manchester City’s head coach, Josep Guardiola, admitted that he made a mistake by including 20-year-old Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusainov in the starting lineup for the match against Chelsea in the 23rd round of the Premier League. The game ended with a 3:1 victory for the "Citizens."
Guardiola emphasized that he does not blame the player for the error that led to a goal in the second minute and believes the responsibility lies with the coaching staff. According to him, the young defender needs time to adapt to a new country, league, and team.
“I am not going to blame Khusainov. Rather, I should criticize myself for the fact that we are still making mistakes. He trained well, he is attentive and focused,” Guardiola stated at the press conference.
Khusainov made his debut for Manchester City in the match against Chelsea but had a rough start, committing an error that resulted in a goal and receiving a yellow card just four minutes into the game. He was substituted in the 54th minute.
