Starting January 1, payment on public transport in Tashkent is only accepted through cashless transactions.
“There are outraged posts in the Consumer community from those who tried to pay with cash on the bus and ended up not going anywhere. They were kicked off. Most people are managing fine with payments: they either use the ATTO card or a variety of bank cards. There are isolated instances where the QR code couldn't be scanned. But overall, everything is fine,” — notes the community “Consumer.uz”.
Other users in the network believe that the project was implemented too hastily.
“I traveled for a couple of days and observed what was happening:
It’s unclear where to find Paynet booths, especially on the outskirts.
Pensioners are in shock; many hadn’t heard anything about the new changes.
Drivers are getting anxious and arguing with passengers at nearly every stop.”
The author of the channel “Delicate Matters” believes that the option to pay in cash (3000 sums) should be reinstated until Paynet booths are fully available throughout the city.
“Although it’s unclear when that will be — we don’t even have proper stops everywhere,” — he concluded.
