In Kazakhstan, over the past two years, issues related to 32 emergency schools and 71 three-shift schools have been addressed, along with the elimination of the shortage of student places in 200 educational institutions. This was made possible by the construction of a record number of schools—during this period, 422 schools were put into operation, accommodating half a million students.
Currently, there are approximately 8,000 schools operating in the country. Over the last decade, the number of students has increased by more than a million, reaching 3.9 million individuals.
To combat the lack of student places and enhance the quality of educational infrastructure in both urban and rural areas, active construction and renovation of schools are underway.
“As part of the national project 'Comfortable School,' work is being funded through the republican and local budgets, the educational infrastructure support fund, and private investments. This year, about 200 schools are being built, providing nearly 300,000 places. These measures will completely eliminate the shortage of student places by 2026,” said Rosa Sembaeva, the director of the infrastructure development department.
In 2023-2024, a major renovation of 464 educational institutions has been carried out, 35 facilities affected by floods have been restored, and 3,130 modern classrooms for robotics, chemistry, biology, physics, and STEM disciplines have been equipped.
The government continues to take steps to create new learning spaces and improve educational conditions, which contributes to ensuring access to quality education for children in all regions of the country.
