Kazakhstan has temporarily restricted the re-export of Russian grain to Uzbekistan and China. This decision is linked to the introduction of a ban on wheat imports from third countries and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), reported the country's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
“Earlier, Kazakhstan imposed restrictions on wheat imports from third countries and the EAEU until the end of 2024 to protect the domestic market, which automatically limited the re-export opportunities for Russian grain to Uzbekistan and China,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Additionally, in 2024, Kazakhstan increased the unified tariffs on transit cargo transportation, including wheat, across the country for EAEU participants.
It is worth noting that the wheat import ban was implemented back in August of this year and is part of measures to stabilize the internal agricultural market.
