Kazakhstan residents will be able to obtain free medications using a QR code.

An experimental project has been launched in Kazakhstan that enables people to obtain free medications using a QR code, reports Bizmedia.kz.
Граждане Казахстана смогут получать бесплатные медикаменты, используя QR-код.

According to representatives of the Anti-Corruption Service, a new system is being implemented in the polyclinics of the Abai region and operates through the "Social Wallet" application.

The initial results of the program's operation appear promising, and after the pilot testing phase is completed, there are plans to expand it to other regions of the country.

Previously, serious issues were identified in the healthcare sector of the Abai region regarding the provision of medications to citizens.

Data from the Anti-Corruption Service indicates that last year, during an analysis, numerous cases of delayed drug deliveries by the company "SK-Pharmacy" were found. These disruptions forced patients to purchase the medications they were entitled to for free out of their own pockets.

Statistics show that in 2024, the number of patients in the region increased by 14%. However, the volume of prescriptions issued decreased: from 707.6 thousand in 2023 to 682.4 thousand a year later.

The implementation of the new system through the "Social Wallet" is intended to improve the process of obtaining medications, making it more convenient and preventing delays in drug supply.
