Abat Faizullaev has been appointed as the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malta, an island nation in the Mediterranean Sea. Since 2023, he has also held the position of ambassador to Italy. According to Dunyo, Abat Faizullaev presented his credentials to the President of Malta, Miriam Spiteri Debono.
During the meeting, which took place as part of the event, the Maltese leader emphasized the strengthening of bilateral relations. It was noted that, despite the geographical distance between the countries, their intertwined interests and goals contribute to the development of multifaceted cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to issues of mutual support for the candidacies and initiatives of both countries within international organizations, including the UN and OSCE.
In January, the Maltese ambassador to Uzbekistan was appointed with residence in Moscow, and the first round of consultations between the foreign ministries took place in Valletta.
Abat Faizullaev has been the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy and the Permanent Representative to international organizations in Rome (FAO, WHO, UNIDO) since November 2023, and from December 2024, he will serve as the first ambassador to Cyprus.
