Bakhorid Kurbanov, who previously held the position of Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan, has officially been appointed as the head of the National Security Service (NSS). His predecessor, Abdusalom Azizov, who led the NSS since February 2019, has been transferred to the Security Council.
During the ceremony for the new leader's appointment, Azizov's contributions to the development of the national security system were particularly highlighted. Kurbanov emphasized the importance of Azizov's work in restructuring, modernizing security systems, and training new personnel.
In his statement, Abdusalom Azizov expressed his readiness to continue serving the people and the President of Uzbekistan, regardless of the position held. During his leadership, the NSS underwent a significant reform aimed at enhancing the transparency and openness of the service's operations.
