Mobile network operators in Kazakhstan are looking to collaborate with satellite providers.

At the Digital Almaty 2025 forum, mobile operators discussed initiatives aimed at eliminating digital inequality and ensuring coverage in remote areas of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Bizmedia.kz from the event.
Мобильные операторы Казахстана намерены начать сотрудничество со спутниковыми провайдерами.

The CEO of Beeline Kazakhstan, Evgeny Nastradin, noted that competition with satellite operators is not feasible, but collaboration with them could be a significant step towards expanding coverage.

According to him, Beeline, part of the VEON group, has already signed a contract with SpaceX, and its Ukrainian subsidiary Kyivstar is launching Direct-to-Cell (DTC) technology this year. This technology allows mobile devices to connect directly to satellites without the need for additional antennas or dishes.

For Kazakhstan, considering its geographical features and low population density in certain regions, such solutions could be revolutionary.

Nastradin emphasized that traditional mobile operators focus on areas with high population density, and it will take many more years to cover remote locations.
