In our country, the goal has been set to plant 200 million trees and shrubs annually to increase the level of greening to 30 percent by the year 2030. In recent years, this figure has reached 12 percent.

This spring, 138 million seedlings were planted. Since the beginning of the year, over 10 thousand hectares of green belts have been established, and ministries and khokimiyats have created 257 gardens. In the Aral Sea region, the area of green cover has exceeded 2 million hectares.

Starting this year, 2 thousand hectares of land adjacent to roads, rivers, and canals have been leased to 10 thousand residents and entrepreneurs for greening. As part of the project "Menning Bog'im," 49 billion sums have been allocated from the budget to create 215 new parks in neighborhoods.

These efforts have also been recognized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the executive body of the Convention to Combat Desertification.

However, unfortunately, in some areas, there is a delay in this noble endeavor. In certain districts, seedlings are planted on land without an irrigation system, or trees are not planted to replace those that have been cut down.

At the meeting, tasks for the current season and the next year were defined.

First of all, the necessity to increase the number of seedlings adapted to the climate of our country was emphasized. In particular, through effective collaboration with the Academy of Sciences, environmental services, organizations in agriculture, water, and forestry, research institutions in the quarantine system, higher educational institutions, and in vitro laboratories, it is possible to achieve 2-3 times more profit from the cultivation of seeds and seedlings. This will also contribute to the development of science.

In the Nukus, Arnasay, Karakul, and Mubarak districts, 4 gardens with drought-resistant and salt-tolerant halophytes will be established next year. Additionally, on 250 thousand hectares of the deserts of Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Navoi, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, and Khorezm regions, water-independent seeds of saxaul, kandym, and cherkiz will be sown using drones.

This spring, through the selection of healthy mother plantations in forestry, 1.5 thousand tons of seeds will be harvested annually. Based on the experience of South Korea, the production of 2 million drought-resistant seedlings adapted to climatic conditions will be organized using a closed root system and in vitro methods. In lands of the Mahmud Mirzaev Institute in Samarkand, Khorezm, Tashkent regions, and the Fergana Valley, 10 million fruit tree seedlings will be grown annually.

Opportunities for organized planting of seedlings have been identified.

Neighborhoods play a significant role in this matter. Greening and landscaping are primarily needed by the people themselves. Therefore, representatives of the "neighborhood seven" will plant 100 decorative trees on the streets assigned to them, totaling 6 million trees. Furthermore, 3 million seedlings will be planted on other streets, vacant lots, and around multi-story buildings. In total, 20 million decorative and fruit trees can be planted in neighborhoods.

The Forestry Agency has been tasked with organizing fairs in all neighborhoods and supplying 30 million seedlings. It has been noted that 2.5 million trees can be planted on the grounds of more than 20 thousand educational institutions and hospitals, while 1.5 million trees can be planted on 60 thousand hectares of land allocated to youth.

Khokimiyats and ministries plan to plant 40 million seedlings in the fall.

In particular, along 13 international highways, 9 million seedlings will be planted. An additional 2 thousand kilometers of roadside areas will be allocated to 10 thousand citizens and entrepreneurs for these purposes. Seedlings will also be planted along the Tashkent-Samarkand and Samarkand-Karshi railway lines. On the outskirts of fields, 21 million trees of poplar, mulberry, and grape will be cultivated.

The Ministry of Defense will be responsible for planting 200 thousand seedlings, while the systems of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Guard, and Ministry of Emergency Situations will each be responsible for 100 thousand seedlings. A "green belt" will be created around waste disposal sites.

As noted, next year, 100 billion sums will be allocated for the implementation of the "Yashil Makon" project. Now, the investment program will also include expenses for three years of care for the trees, protection from diseases, and irrigation.

Two irrigation experiments will be conducted. In particular, in 27 districts, drilling one well will be permitted. In the spring, tree planting will begin using the terraced method on the slopes of mountains and hills in 14 districts over an area of 500 hectares.

Instructions have been given to create green zones and public parks in regions as part of the "Menning Bog'im" project. These areas will be posted on the Open Budget portal before the sowing season, where recommendations on tree species and their costs will be indicated. A warning system will also be implemented via a mobile application for individuals who have shown irresponsibility in caring for the plantings.

It has been noted that recently, dust storms have increased in our country. This, along with global climate change, is exacerbated by illegal logging, depletion of water resources, and uncontrolled grazing. There has also been a sharp decline in plant species diversity in the steppe.

The head of state emphasized that under current conditions of population growth, pastures are the largest reserve for ensuring food security.

In this regard, it was decided to transfer the management of 16 million hectares of pasture land to the Committee for Veterinary and Livestock Development. The committee has been tasked with preparing a three-year program to rehabilitate degraded deserts. Next year, grant funds of 50 million dollars will be attracted for these purposes.

Another issue related to the sector is the disappearance of vegetation cover in the steppes. In this regard, responsible individuals have been instructed to increase the area of green spaces in the steppe and semi-desert regions of Bukhara and Navoi regions.

In collaboration with the "Uzbekcosmos" agency, a monitoring platform for the ecological situation in deserts will be created. The accountability of the Forestry Agency in this regard will be enhanced. Now, it will also deal with combating desertification, and the "Yul kukalam" organizations in khokimiyats will be transferred to the agency's system.

The agency has been tasked to create, together with the Academy of Sciences, an experimental plot of 20 hectares and cultivate plants that restore degraded pastures.

The President also touched on the issues of widely promoting a healthy lifestyle in society. The importance of introducing new approaches to increasing the physical activity of the population, promoting sports, walking, and proper nutrition was emphasized.

Reports and plans of responsible individuals were heard on the issues discussed at the meeting.
