According to the publication Abainews.kz, the police initially suspected that the incident might have been caused by a race. However, after questioning the sole survivor who managed to escape from the vehicle, it was revealed that the tragedy occurred due to confusion between the gas and brake pedals.
“According to police reports, the cause of the accident was a violation of vehicle control rules. The driver’s mistake related to the confusion of pedals led to the unfortunate incident,” stated the Department of Police for the Abai region.
There were four people in the car. A young man and a girl managed to escape, but the girl was swept away by the current. Later, her body was found in the area of the first microdistrict, approximately 11 kilometers from the site of the car's fall. The fate of the driver and another passenger remains unknown, and the search is ongoing.
