The first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Montenegro, with residence in Budapest, Oibek Shahavdinov, presented his credentials to the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, on November 25, as reported by Dunyo.

During the ceremony, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations. Jakov Milatović also congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on their achievements in social and economic development, wishing the country peace, prosperity, and well-being.

Montenegro highly values the potential of bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of trade, economy, investment, and culture. The President emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for tourism and humanitarian exchanges.

Uzbekistan and Montenegro established diplomatic relations on December 19, 2006. Oibek Shahavdinov previously became the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Slovenia, and on October 23, to Croatia. In March 2024, he was appointed as the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Hungary.
