The air quality monitoring platform IQAir isn't always reliable, according to an expert from the Ministry of Ecology.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, experts have stated that the data from the IQAir platform is not always reliable. They provided explanations on why the widely accepted air quality index should not be fully trusted, as reported by a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.
Эксперт Минэкологии утверждает, что платформе IQAir для мониторинга качества воздуха нельзя всегда доверять.

The question of whether the data from IQAir, the largest free air quality monitoring platform in the world, is accurate was discussed at the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan's discussion club.

During the discussion, Bahrom Esanov, an expert from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, emphasized that IQAir is not always reliable, as any individual or legal entity can integrate their own sensor devices onto the platform.

Specialists also noted that instances were recorded in Tashkent where sensors connected to the platform were installed between two industrial enterprises. Such a location inevitably affected the air quality in that area, leading to a decline in overall city metrics.

An explanation was also provided regarding why air quality in Uzbekistan cannot be compared to that in Japan and European countries. According to ecologists, the particulate matter levels there are very low due to the high humidity of the air. In contrast, arid regions of the world experience high levels of PM2.5 particles in the air due to the presence of natural dust.

It is worth mentioning that recently, after record levels of atmospheric pollution in Tashkent, residents of the capital initiated a social media challenge called "We Need Clean Air," demanding action from authorities to improve the environmental situation.
