A phased renovation of 1,300 schools has commenced in Kazakhstan.

At the directive of the Head of State, a large-scale renovation of 1,300 schools will take place in Kazakhstan over the next three years, with 54% of these schools located in rural areas, according to Bizmedia.kz, citing the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The press service of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that the renovation of schools will be carried out in accordance with modern educational standards. The major repairs will include roof replacement, facade and window updates, and comprehensive renovations of engineering communications: electricity supply, heating, water supply, sewage, and ventilation. In addition to the major repairs, classrooms will be equipped with modern technology, furniture will be updated, libraries and cafeterias will be modernized, sports halls will be reconstructed, and public spaces will be improved. Special attention will be given to the security system.

Deputy Director of the Department of Infrastructure Development of the Ministry of Education, Roza Sembaeva, stated that the government allocates funds annually for the enhancement of school infrastructure. In 2025, the renovation will cover 262 schools, of which 141 are located in rural areas. Nearly 200,000 students will study in the updated buildings.

The renovation project is planned to span three years: in 2025, 262 schools will be updated; in 2026, 436; and in 2027, 466. In 2028-2029, renovation is planned for an additional 67 schools in the Zhambyl region.
