The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Malaysia agreed to initiate a phase of innovative development in Uzbek-Malaysian partnership.

On February 5th, at the Perdana Putra Government Complex, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim held talks in a closed session, accompanied by their official delegations.

On February 5, at the Perdana Putra Government Complex, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim held talks in a closed format with the participation of official delegations.

At the beginning of the discussion, the head of our state expressed sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister of Malaysia for the warm hospitality and congratulated him on the significant achievements of the successfully implemented "Madani" state strategy.

The parties addressed issues concerning the further expansion and strengthening of Uzbek-Malaysian relations of friendship and partnership.

It was noted that the historic visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Uzbekistan in May of last year gave a serious impetus to the development of multifaceted relations between the two countries.

Political dialogue and inter-parliamentary contacts have intensified. The volume of mutual trade, the number of joint ventures, and the frequency of flights are all increasing.

Last year, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was successfully held, a Business Council was established, and several major business forums were organized.

In anticipation of the visit, meetings of analytical centers, presentations of Uzbekistan's tourism potential and cultural heritage, and a forum for rectors of leading universities were conducted.

To ensure effective coordination of cooperation development and the implementation of agreements at the highest level, a decision was made to create a platform for the Strategic Dialogue of Foreign Ministers.

The importance of continuing mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other international structures was emphasized.

Special attention was given to practical cooperation in the trade, economic, and investment sectors.

To boost trade turnover, an agreement was reached to develop a Preferential Trade Agreement, hold reciprocal industrial exhibitions, and adopt an Industrial Cooperation Program.

The Government of Malaysia actively supports Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization.

The leaders agreed to declare the years 2025-2026 as a period of innovative development for Uzbek-Malaysian partnership.

Priority areas for the new model of economic cooperation were identified: petrochemicals and chemistry, electronics and semiconductor industry, innovative industry, smart agriculture, green energy, pilgrimage tourism, and more.

To support cooperation projects, a special economic zone is being established in the Tashkent region under the management of a leading Malaysian company.

The leaders advocated for further active cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
