Prosecutors nominated for higher leadership positions will undergo lie detector tests.

According to a draft order from the Prosecutor General's Office, one of the criteria for evaluating candidates for higher management positions will be the results of a polygraph test, as reported by Bizmedia.kz.
При назначении на высокие руководящие посты прокуроры будут обязаны проходить тест на полиграфе.

According to the draft order of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 28, 2025, one of the criteria for evaluating a candidate when promoting a prosecutor to a higher managerial position will be the results of a polygraph test. The draft order is open for public discussion until March 18, 2025.

The draft order confirms the list of managerial positions that are filled on a competitive basis, as well as the rules for conducting competitions for higher managerial positions within the prosecutor's office.

If the candidate meets the qualification requirements for the announced position, they will be sent for a polygraph examination, which can be waived if less than three years have passed since their last examination. The candidate will undergo a computer-based assessment at the next stage, where their knowledge of supervision specifics and understanding of legislation will be evaluated.

The polygraph test will only apply to positions filled through a competitive process, excluding posts appointed by presidential decree. Additionally, the competition rules will introduce the concept of a digital rating, referred to as a competitiveness indicator.

It is worth noting that earlier, the government draft resolution introduced changes to the conditions for undergoing polygraph examinations for law enforcement personnel, civil protection authorities, and the state courier service of the Republic of Kazakhstan when considered for higher managerial positions as part of certification, unscheduled certification, or competition for a higher managerial role.
