President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the report on major transport infrastructure projects on February 3.

In the context of growing demands from the population and the economy, the country's transport network is steadily advancing. In accordance with the presidential decree dated October 10, 2023, improvements have been made in the road sector, enabling the expansion of construction, repair, and maintenance of roads.

The document outlines the creation of modern highways. Notably, with the support of the World Bank, a project for an alternative route "Tashkent – Andijan" has been developed. The commissioning of this 314-kilometer expressway will reduce travel time between the two cities from 5 to 3 hours, increase gross domestic product by 2.6 percent, and decrease the number of road traffic accidents by 40 percent.

Recently, an international tender for this project was announced, attracting interest from many leading foreign companies.

During the meeting, proposals for the project were reviewed. The Ministry of Transport has been tasked with constructing alternative highways and addressing other congested routes, enhancing road convenience and safety, and organizing various paid services.

The President was also provided with information about the project for establishing a dry port in the Navoi region in collaboration with the Emirati company AD Ports Group.
