The incident occurred after a dead animal infected with anthrax was found at the slaughterhouse of the agricultural enterprise "Asyl-Agro." Laboratory tests confirmed that one of the employees at the slaughterhouse had been diagnosed with the cutaneous form of the disease.
The press service of the Atyrau region akimat reported that the patient has been hospitalized and is receiving treatment according to the established medical protocol. His condition is stable. No signs of the disease have been detected in other individuals who had contact with him.
Authorities emphasized that active measures to localize the infection and prevent its spread are ongoing in accordance with sanitary and veterinary standards.
The akimat also noted that veterinary specialists have completed the vaccination of all livestock in the quarantine zone. Sanitary treatment of the area is being conducted simultaneously. To monitor the import of cattle into the Atyrau region, four police and veterinary supervision posts have been established, where vaccination documents, the condition of the animals, and temperature checks are conducted. Similar measures have been implemented at the city's slaughterhouses. The transportation and slaughter of animals without the necessary documents is strictly prohibited.
It is worth mentioning that earlier in the Atyrau region, a cow brought from another region died at the livestock market. It was later determined that the cause of death was anthrax. In connection with this, a quarantine was imposed at the market on November 20, and the slaughterhouse was temporarily closed.
