President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the report on major transport infrastructure projects on February 3, including the construction of an alternative road from Tashkent to Andijan.
The project has been developed with the support of the World Bank. The length of the highway will be 314 kilometers. The introduction of this new route will not only expedite travel but also increase the country's gross domestic product by 2.6% and reduce the number of road traffic accidents by 40%.
An international tender has recently been announced for the implementation of the project, attracting interest from leading foreign companies.
The meeting discussed not only this road but also other promising alternative highways. The President instructed the Ministry of Transport to develop additional projects for the construction of busy routes, improve road quality, and implement various paid services.
