In the Khorezm region's Khazarasp district, a man was apprehended for attempting to sell a steppe falcon listed in the Red Book. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology.
Experts conducted a raid during which it was discovered that a local resident was trying to sell a steppe falcon, which is included in Uzbekistan's Red Book, through social media.
As a result of this incident, an administrative protocol was drawn up against the violator under Article 92 of the Administrative Offences Code of Uzbekistan, and a fine of 1 million 875 thousand sums was imposed. The confiscated bird has been handed over to the Khorezm National Nature Park for a health assessment. After receiving the necessary treatment, the bird will be released back into the wild.
Earlier, at the end of December, Uzbekistan strengthened penalties for the illegal possession of wild animals.
