Svetlana Zhakupova highlighted that skilled trades remain the foundation of the labor market in Kazakhstan.
“More than half of all working Kazakhs (52%) have vocational or technical education. 2.3 million people are employed in over 2,000 skilled trades. The high demand for such specialists is linked to the significant number of job openings, which exceeded 270,000 last year,” she stated.
According to her data, skilled workers are most in demand in the transportation, trade, industry, and agriculture sectors.
“Our forecasts, developed based on actuarial models, indicate that the need for skilled workers will continue to grow in the coming years. The total demand for personnel over the next 6 years is estimated at 1.6 million people, of which more than half will be workers with vocational education, and about 400,000 of them will specifically represent skilled trades,” Zhakupova added.
