В Казахстане намечено открытие профессиональных классов в колледжах.

On January 8, 2025, Minister of Education Gani Beisembaev spoke about this at a government meeting.

He clarified that a plan of activities, approved by a government decree, has been developed for the successful implementation of the Year of Working Professions.

“A government commission has been established for the Year of Working Professions. A Roadmap for the transformation of technical and vocational education has been adopted. In 20 regions, plans have been approved aimed at enhancing the prestige of working professions, improving the quality of training, and strengthening cooperation with employers,” he noted.

According to the minister, 13 ministries have developed sectoral plans that provide for the creation of new enterprises, quality jobs, upskilling of workers, and collaboration between colleges and employers to prepare specialists.

The action plan for 2024 includes 70 items across seven areas:

  • Development of a New Professions Atlas.
  • Implementation of a career guidance concept.
  • Transformation of the technical and vocational education system.
  • Training of qualified personnel.
  • Creation of quality jobs.
  • Protection of workers' rights.
  • Enhancement of the image of working professions.

Central and local executive bodies, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken,” JSC “Samruk-Kazyna,” national companies, and trade unions are involved in the implementation of these measures. The Ministry of Education coordinates the execution of the plan and is responsible for 20 items.

The minister added that a new concept of career guidance will be launched as part of the plan, along with the development of a “New Professions Atlas” that considers the staffing needs of the regions.

“New approaches to career guidance will help students better understand labor market requirements, assess career prospects, and choose the right profession. Career guidance services in schools will be strengthened, encompassing diagnostic assessments for students. In collaboration with colleges, specialized classes will be opened in 1000 schools, where high school students will acquire practical skills and their first working profession,” Beisembaev noted.

Additionally, it was announced that from 2024, Kazakhstani schoolchildren will begin learning the basics of artificial intelligence.
