The senior assistant prosecutor of the Chartak district in the Namangan region has been detained for accepting a bribe of $2,400. This is reported by UzA.
The senior assistant prosecutor demanded $3,000 to refrain from taking legal action against a doctor from the multidisciplinary central district clinic, who prepared forged documents to grant disability pensions to five citizens.
However, after receiving $2,400 of the requested amount, he was apprehended by law enforcement with tangible evidence.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 25 (preparation and attempt of a crime) clause "a" of part 3 of Article 168 (fraud in a particularly large amount) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. An investigation is underway.
