Last year, one in three traffic accidents in Uzbekistan involved passenger and cargo vehicles.
Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz, there were officially 9,364 road traffic accidents registered in Uzbekistan in 2024. Of these incidents, 3,045 cases (32.5%) involved vehicles engaged in freight and passenger transportation, as reported by a Podrobno.uz correspondent.

On January 24, during a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov reported this.
Among public transport, Damas vehicles were most frequently involved in traffic accidents, accounting for 1,592 incidents (52.3%). Cargo trucks were involved in 558 cases (18.3%), buses in 137 (4.5%), and minibuses in 29 (0.95%).
One of the major issues remains driver fatigue behind the wheel, which led to 351 accidents (3.7% of the total number of traffic incidents). As a result of these incidents, 189 people lost their lives, and 285 were injured.
It is worth noting that in the Fergana region, a minor driver without a license died in a traffic accident.
