In the Sergeli district of Tashkent, a court reviewed the case of a 38-year-old woman accused of recruiting a 27-year-old girl for prostitution in India, reports the press service of the capital's courts.
According to the investigation, the accused told the victim that in India one could earn between $2,000 and $3,000 per month, persuading her to go there. The girl agreed, provided her documents, and was issued a visa.
During the trial, the woman denied her guilt, claiming that she only accompanied the girls to the airport and did not consider her actions to be a crime.
“I thought I was doing a good deed. I have four children, and I am the sole breadwinner for my family; my youngest child is three years old,” she stated in court.
The court found her guilty but imposed a two-year probation period under Article 72 of the Criminal Code (“Conditional Sentencing”).
