A giraffe suffering from atony of the pre-stomachs has died at the Tashkent Zoo. This was reported by the institution's press service.
Zoo staff noted that all possible treatment methods were employed to save the animal, including consultations with international veterinary experts and participation in video conferences.
However, a post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was gastric torsion.
“Due to the anatomical features of giraffes, surgical intervention in such cases is impossible, as there are no documented successful treatments for similar pathologies in global practice,” the zoo added.
