Uzbekistan plans to implement a hunting moratorium until 2028.

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – According to AN Podrobno.uz. As part of the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy and the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy, a draft presidential decree has been presented for public discussion. One of its key initiatives is the introduction of a hunting moratorium, which includes significant changes in the field of nature conservation, reports Podrobno.uz correspondent.
В Узбекистане намерены ввести мораторий на охоту до 2028 года.

It is planned that in order to replenish wildlife losses, hunting of wild animals will be prohibited in the country from September 1, 2025, to January 1, 2028. The exception will include wild animals that are kept and/or bred in farms, nurseries, incubators, and fish farms, as well as cases of sanitary hunting.

For hunters who find themselves without their usual activity, specialized shooting ranges will be organized as an alternative to traditional hunting.

It is important to note that starting this year, Uzbekistan will also begin annual stocking of rivers and streams flowing through the central cities of the republic. At least 15 tons of fish will be allocated each year for these purposes to restore the ichthyofauna population.

Furthermore, starting September 1, 2025, quotas for the collection of wild plants and permits for the use of plant world resources will be provided exclusively through electronic auctions, which will enhance the transparency and accessibility of these procedures.
