According to the Agency of Statistics, the daily amount has risen from 21,300 to 22,000 sums.
The methodology for calculating minimum consumer expenditures is based on the price levels of food and non-food products, as well as services, which allows for the consideration of inflationary effects.
Since 2022, the minimum consumer expenditure (MPR) has been used as a criterion for recognizing a family as low-income within the "Unified Social Protection Registry" system.
Some social benefits in Uzbekistan must meet or exceed the level of minimum consumer expenditures. For instance, in September 2024, the amounts of benefits for elderly citizens without the required work experience, the minimum old-age pension for incomplete work history, and payments to caregivers of children with disabilities were increased. These benefits now total 745,000 sums.
Last year, the MPR was adjusted twice: on January 20, it was increased by 9.3%, and on April 30, it rose by another 4.3% (to 648,000 sums) in anticipation of rising tariffs for gas and electricity.
