In 2024, Uzbekistan recorded 74 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning, resulting in the deaths of 82 individuals and injuring another 80 to varying degrees. This was reported by the press service of the "Hududgazta'minot" company.
According to the company, this is 12 cases fewer than in the same period in 2023. However, among the victims were entire families, highlighting the severity of the issue.
Experts noted that the primary causes of these tragedies include a lack of public awareness regarding the dangers of carbon monoxide, the use of homemade or faulty equipment, and improper installation of chimneys and ventilation systems.
The head of the company, Abdusattor Kayumov, emphasized that each such incident is treated as an emergency. He urged citizens to strictly adhere to safety regulations: ensuring a supply of fresh air in rooms with gas appliances and avoiding sleeping in rooms with operating gas.
