In the East Kazakhstan region, students have switched to remote learning due to the smog.

On November 29, due to adverse weather conditions (specifically heavy smog), four schools in the Glubokovsky district transitioned to remote learning, as reported by Bizmedia.kz.

The following schools have transitioned to online learning:

  1. Opytno-Pole Secondary School.
  2. Stepnovskaya Primary School-Kindergarten.
  3. Bauyrzhan Momyshuly Secondary School in the village of Ushanova.
  4. Kunayev Secondary School in the village of Praporshchikovo.

In Ust-Kamenogorsk, over 53 thousand students have moved to remote learning.

The city has been shrouded in dense fog for several days, and adverse weather conditions have been observed since November 23. This has raised concerns among residents. Air pollution is worsening due to poor ventilation, fog, and the geographical features of the area—the city is located in a basin.

“I cannot tell people that there are no exceedances of the maximum allowable concentration (MAC) when I myself start coughing as soon as I step outside. People need to be informed about the situation in every district of the city: Sogre, Kulenovka, KHT, the industrial area, and others,” acknowledged the Akim of East Kazakhstan Region, Ermek Kosherbaev.
