The Anti-Corruption Agency uncovered violations amounting to 5.3 billion tenge in the Karaganda region.

According to the audit results conducted by the Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC) of local executive bodies and certain entities in the quasi-public sector, violations amounting to nearly 5.3 billion tenge have been identified, as reported by Bizmedia.kz, referencing the agency's press service.

The audit revealed a 2.2-fold increase in debt load over five years, while debt servicing costs rose by 1.5 times. During the pandemic, there was an overshoot of the state debt limit by 3.8 billion tenge. Despite the current stable situation, the peak of debt repayments is anticipated in 2031, amounting to 21.7 billion tenge across 20 contracts.

The review encompassed the financial and economic management of the Karaganda region, municipal enterprises, and the football club "Shakhtar." Issues were identified regarding financial management, an increase in losses, and risks of non-fulfillment of loan obligations. Instances of profit distribution by enterprises while receiving budget loans and placing funds in deposits were also recorded.

Auditors have issued recommendations and directives to address the violations.
