Last year, the population of Uzbekistan spent over 19.7 trillion soums on pharmaceuticals, reports the press service of the State Tax Committee. The majority of this amount – 15.7 trillion soums – was allocated for imported medications, while approximately 4 trillion soums was spent on domestic drugs.

The highest per capita spending on medications was recorded in Tashkent (1.7 million soums), Bukhara (746 thousand soums), and Samarkand (660.7 thousand soums) regions. The least was spent on pharmaceuticals in Karakalpakstan (308.9 thousand soums), Kashkadarya (302.3 thousand soums), and Surkhandarya (289.5 thousand soums) regions.

Overall, the highest expenditures on pharmaceuticals were noted in Tashkent (5 trillion soums), Samarkand (2.6 trillion soums), and Fergana (1.5 trillion soums) regions. The lowest figures were recorded in Jizzakh (536 billion soums), Navoi (490 billion soums), and Syrdarya (442.5 billion soums) regions.

According to an analysis of fiscal receipts, residents of the country most frequently purchased medications for treating cardiovascular and infectious diseases, pain relievers, as well as drugs for the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract.

The State Tax Committee reminded that all pharmaceuticals are subject to mandatory digital labeling, and their authenticity can be verified through the Soliq mobile application.
