The former head of the Uzbek diaspora in Russia's Kurgan, Otabek Makulov, and his brother Azizbek are being extradited to Uzbekistan, reports the publication Ura.ru, citing law enforcement agencies.
“The members of the Kurgan diaspora, the Makulovs, will be handed over to the Uzbek security forces,” sources have stated. Criminal cases have been initiated against them in Uzbekistan concerning robbery and abduction. Russian law enforcement detained Otabek Makulov in Kurgan in September 2024.
“Complaints from foreign citizens regarding the decision to extradite them to the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan for criminal prosecution have been left unsatisfied,” the regional court's press service reported in response to an inquiry from the publication.
