A man in Bukhara has been held accountable for leaving an offensive comment under a photo of singer Kaniza on the social network Instagram. This is reported by the media.
While testifying in court, the singer emphasized that every individual should respect others and avoid baseless insults.
“If there had been a woman in the defendant's place in court, I might have understood her. But an Uzbek man who claims to be a Muslim insults a woman without reason and ends up in court – is this the behavior of a Muslim?” the singer stated during her court appearance.
It was revealed that the negative comment pertained to the singer's appearance. “We live in a democratic state. If our legislation prohibited modern dressing or dancing, there would be no artists in our country at all,” she pointed out.
The court, after reviewing the case materials, found the defendant guilty of committing an administrative offense under Article 41 of the Administrative Code of Uzbekistan (insult) and imposed a fine of 20 BRV (6.8 million sums).
