The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will visit Saint Petersburg on December 25-26 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, reports the press service of the head of state.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev will participate in an informal meeting of the leaders of CIS countries and a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, where Uzbekistan holds the status of an observer.
The main focus of the events will be on strengthening cooperation among the participating countries. The leaders will discuss the results of their work for 2024, key areas of interaction for 2025, as well as current issues on the regional and international agenda.
Earlier, it was reported that Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin, during which he expressed condolences regarding the death of the head of the Russian Armed Forces' Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops, Igor Kirillov, and his assistant, Ilya Polikarpov. The President of Uzbekistan condemned the terrorist act that occurred.
