The deputy governor of the Andijan region has been detained.

The former deputy governor of the Andijan region — the head of the regional investment, industry, and trade department, Botirjon Khамroev, has reportedly been detained on suspicion of embezzling budget funds. This information is reported by Kun.uz citing a source.

According to available data, during searches at his residence, three million dollars were discovered. He has been detained on charges of embezzlement of budget funds and abuse of official power.

Currently, investigative actions are being conducted against Botirjon Khамroev.

Botirjan Khамroev has served as the deputy governor of the region since 2019. He left his position at the beginning of October.
